So the other day, I met the creator of the internet.
April 15th, 2007My school hosted a talk on April 10th with Vinton Cerf, one of the creators of the internet, and current Chief Internet Evangelist over at Google.
According to UIUC, “Dr. Cerf is widely known as one of the founders of the Internet and as the co-designer of the TCP/IP protocol - the communications protocol that gave birth to the Internet and is commonly used today.”
Friends of mine were attending the talk, and I decided to come along with them. I was expecting the talk to be a bit more on the boring techy side, but it was rather quite entertaining. The talk started on the early days of the internet, and where it was heading today. I won’t bore you with too many details, but he basically told us the new applications of the internet, how the internet allows consumers of information to be producers as well, and how it could be expanded to almost every aspect of our lives. After the talk, he had a Q+A session, and that’s where we left.
I did manage to take a photo with him. I’m the one in the brown jacket, Dr. Cerf is in the middle holding my frisbee.
In other news: I have no eyes.
