Turkey day

Today is thanksgiving, and like many others, I’ll be celebrating the day by feasting on a giant dead bird with family. I’ve never really contributed to the food pile before, but this season, I’ll be attempting to bring a dish of my own. Trying out a casserole dish that Daphu made for me. Anyway, besides the food and the mass congregation of friends of family, do people take the time to be thankful?

I mean sure, it’s typically a day many Americans choose to blame their weight gain on, and it’s also a day one can relax from work and talk with relatives and friends not often seen. But I wonder though if people do indeed give thanks for however much (or little) they have.

Besides the usual “full tummy” and “the clothes on my back,” I do have something I’ve become increasingly thankful for over the years. The reason I’ve lived a good great life is due to the people around me. Simply put, you. Once you have your basic needs, anything else falls short of the enjoyment I get from the people around me. I owe everything to the people that undress me with their eyes, and those I return the favor, and those that laugh with me, those that laugh at me, and the folk I laugh at. I also can’t forget the people who have taught me so much, the people who listen my silly ideas, and those who support me when I’m down. I should also make note of the people who feed me, the people who’ve eaten my excuse for cooking, and the people I love and those who love me in return.

My life is unfolding into a great tale which always seems to intrigue those I tell it to. But little do you realize that you all are the reason I have stories to tell in the first place. I am thankful for you all more than you can imagine. I just might not show it all the time. :) Happy Thanksgiving.

And side note: Indie music is the new mainstream.

The Bitter End.

It is cold and dark. Even day colder and darker than the previous one. The bright red and yellow leaves have left; a sickly brown carpet has replaced them. We do not enjoy the sound of falling drops, but it is wet. Always wet. Angry forces outside are compounded by angry forces within; assignments one after the other, work piled on top of a growing heap of worries. The bright white snow has yet to grace us, for a final foe remains. Final exams, exams of finality. gwargh!

Something I should have started doing long ago

Rawr.

Grab some jelly and peanut butter packets from a dorm. Buy a loaf of day old bread from a local Jimmy John’s for 48 cents. Enjoy a cheap, filling, and crazy tasty peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch.
