And so the fourth of July has returned once more. This year, having stayed on campus, I was able to experience local festivities. There was a local parade which started at the intersection of Lincoln and Nevada over in Urbana. Parades, in my opinion, aren’t too interesting to begin with. But this parade, while nothing special, wasn’t half bad. The Champaign-Urbana area managed to hold a pretty big lineup of floats, bands, and old people to march down town.

I bbq’d with some friends for dinner, which was muy yum. At night, I went to a fireworks display over at the park next to Parkland college. It was pleasing to the eyes. Afterwards, I ate some sweet corn. In the end, I can say that spending the fourth down in Champaign wasn’t bad at all.

As for work, some odd forces have been conspiring to get me injured. A few days back, I managed to get a long bleedy scrape on my left leg while I was moving equipment. An angry desk had attacked me with it’s sharp corners. Yesterday, some metal on a usb port was bent outwards and I sliced my palm on it as I was trying to pick the computer up. And just today, I was cutting open a box, and managed to run the sharp edge of a pair of scissors over the tip of my middle finger on my left hand. This one was real bleedy. The last part was prolly my fault though.

Blah!

After I upgraded to 2.5, my East Asian text became all jumbled as random characters. If you were having problems displaying your characters properly like I was, all you need to do is access your wp-config.php file in your base Wordpress directory. You want to delete the following lines of code from the file.

define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);
define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);

They are located at the bottom of the first cluster. After that, save the changes and you should be good to go! 好好！

If you have a 7-Eleven nearby, you may want to stop by sometime today. For today is July 11th, 7-Eleven day!

All 7-Eleven’s will be giving away free 7.11 ounce Slurpees to each customer all day long, or until the cups run out. While I doubt they will each carry 711 of these 7.11 ounce cups, they should probably have a good number that they don’t run out, as long as you don’t go too late. At 7.11 ounces, it won’t seem like much at first, but will quickly become a force to be reckoned with as you undoubtedly visit your 5th, 6th, 7th and so on 7-Eleven stores.

Unfortunately, while I enjoy getting tasty brain freeze as anyone else, there are no 7-Elevens in the Champaign-Urbana area. So while I sulk, drink on my friends!

What is this a picture of? That, my friends, was the inside of my old computer set up. For reasons beyond me, the fan on my processor decided to die. Obviously my compy was not happy with this, and things got a little heated between us. I didn’t enjoy my compy crashing on me, so I had to find a replacement fan. Tried looking for another one, but couldn’t find one that would fit. Now the normal thing to have done is order a new proper fan, but I’m a silly one.
