So earlier today, I was passing by one of the departmental professors I support in a building I monitor. She confused me for one of the grad students she had. I thought maybe my confusion over the whole thing would’ve alerted her to the mistake she had made, but apparently she carried on with the conversation. We ended up talking for about 10 minutes on recording software and some faculty research projects I had no idea about.
Granted, I am Asian, and the grad student in question is as well. But I’ve supported her personal machine and her lab machines before. In addition, I’ve spoken with her a number of times and she knows my name. (or at least I had believed so.)
The funny thing was, I never bothered to correct her. And she was planning to meet that grad student later in the day. Just imagine the shame and rage when she realizes what she did earlier. Haha.
From Rush Hour 2, Chris Tucker plays Carter, Jackie Chan plays Lee:
James Carter: Sorry, man! (During a fight Carter accidentaly punches Lee)
Lee: Carter!
James Carter: All y’all look alike!
