I forgot to make a post on this a while back.

Back in June of last year, the main cpu fan had died on me, causing my machine to overheat and restart abruptly. Being tied to the comforts of the internets, I could not simply wait for a replacement parts. I did order new parts for a new machine, but in the meantime, I needed a quicker solution:

Surprisingly, I'm quite proud of this.

The rear case fan was still working quite well, so I had the genius idea of cutting a ziploc bag to fashion a tube of sorts and I diverted the outtake directly over the heatsink with the help of a bit of usps packing tape.

After it was all done, it worked quite well actually. And after my parts came, since I still had a “working” computer, I ending up not putting it together for a while.

And yes, I’m an IT pro.
