14 Wins, 7 or 8 ties, and ZERO losses. It was the greatest victory I have ever witnessed.

At that point, I had to grab my sandwich and head back to the office. I gave the kid no more chances to redeem himself. As left, I heard the friend call me a master.

Yes.

Hopefully, this’ll do.

Anyway, the 6th of March this year was Unofficial over at the University of Illinois. It’s pretty much a bar sponsored holiday for people to drink all day and get piss drunk. I’ll spare you the boring details of what I did that day, except for what happened on the way back home.

So I was heading back home from a friend’s party at around 2 am ish. I was walking along a wall of an apartment building, nearing the corner. Something got caught on my foot and I tripped forward. I reached out to the wall next to me to try and stop the fall. I was just past the corner of the building and I ran out of wall to grab onto. Luckily, I managed to push off something else and maintain my balance.

Apparently behind the corner I was approaching, a poor fellow was urinating with one of his hands propping him up against the wall, with the other on his hip. I had managed to grab his shoulder, and shove him down to ground. So realizing that I had just shoved someone down, I sputtered out a frantic “SORRY!” Then I saw that he was lying in his own urine, still peeing all over himself and the surrounding area. After that, all I could say was “I can’t help you.” and I continued walking home, leaving that unfortunate guy to lie in his own juices. This doesn’t make me a bad person does it?

He was pretty blown, as he was rocking side to side to get up, but achieving little. I guess he couldn’t decide whether he wanted to halt his peeing or try to stand upright again. At least he had an excuse for being covered in urine as he rejoined whichever party he came from. “Some guy shoved me into my own piss!” Haha.

I’m sure the video will do a far better job of explaining, but here’s the jist of it: Craig Venter, the person featured in this video is talking about his research in synthetic organisms. He and his research team have developed a method of quickly producing chromosome chains for insertion into empty cells. (Remember cloning?) By doing this, they can effectively create entirely new species of bacteria and other simple organisms. Nifty.

They’ve also “digitized” much of the creation process as it pertains to gene selection. Meaning, they’re able to select the traits/genes they want from a “gene library” and mash them together using their equipment.

He claims his team is on the track to producing a viable solution to our growing fuel problems. By taking genes from bacteria that naturally produce octane or butane in nature, they are trying create self-replicating fuel producing bacteria with CO2 and sunlight.

Now what does this mean for everyone? If his team is successful, which I see no reason they won’t be, this should reduce fuel costs worldwide. Besides that, there are other uses he mentions, such as producing vaccines, charting gene functions, recycling waste, and anything else that you could conceive being done with germs.

It seems in the years to come, we’ll be seeing lots o’ crazy developments.
