The seven words to make a IT Pro cry. Do you know them? They exist.

You won’t believe how many times this sort of thing happens. People will tell me how they’ve tried everything to fix an issue and despite my support, have no improvements whatsoever. I pay them a visit to address their issue… only to see that there isn’t one. Whatever problems they’ve had are gone, and this includes issues that may have plagued them across multiple days, users, and instances. Gone. And we’re baffled as to the reason. Guess I have the healing hands.

For a low price, I am willing to lay my hands on you. Free for some select individuals.

Haven’t done one of these summary comics in a while. It’s prolly because they take a bit of time, and I’m lazy.

I think this sums up my day pretty well. You’ll notice the last panel is me drawing and not sleeping. Finished the comic at 12:40 AM!

My bike’s seat post is broken, and my front tire is falling apart. Wasn’t too happy about that. I’ll prolly write up stuff explaining the other panels at some point later in the day.

And Paulson won at Catan. Pretty cutthroat.

This would’ve been a yesterday comic had I remembered. Oh darn!

So, for anyone who works in an environment where technical support comes from people besides yourself, it’s generally a good idea to keep in mind the sort of content the said IT person will be able to see. This includes home users who ask friends or services like Geek Squad for help.

Even if the support technician has the noblest of intentions, it will be hard for him to not notice things like: A wallpaper of your naked girlfriend. Icons on your desktop with names like “grannyXXX.avi.” Or better yet, open internet browsers with “questionable content.”

Your password should be within this mindset as well. Often because IT personnel will need it, and also because often IT personnel will not be able to read your handwriting, and will need to clarify. And there goes your hope that no one will need to mention anything about it.

“Is is just the F and the U that are capitalized? And are these 4 exclamation marks?”

Heading down to Texas in a few weeks. I’ll be handling machines from the Nature Conservancy and setting up a remote research center for the University of Illinois.

I’ll be close to Austin, and I hope to eat tons o’ Texas style bbq. At this research center they occasionally do wild boar roasts. I’ll have to see if they can’t “accidentally” drown a boar in BBQ sauce while I’m there.
